Help...I'm in perimenopause age 52 got all the usual stuff but quite severe, flushes, moods, brain fog, no sex drive, dryness, insomnia ..its rubbish. It has affected my full time work but also my relationship with my fella of 3 years. Should I expect him to cope with all of this? I feel so guilty that our lives have changed because of my body ..thoughts please

I have something similar. Going to the GP next week as I’d like to try HRT.

Thehagonthehill · 22/09/2019 08:00

I tried everything natural and gave in and went on her, haven't looked back!

Thehagonthehill · 22/09/2019 08:00

Hrt not her!

Fleetheart · 22/09/2019 08:02

@Thehagonthehill sounds great, how long did it take to start feeling better? Which one are you on? I would quite like patches if they still do those.

bacchahantes · 22/09/2019 08:03

Hrt and vaginal pessaries.

I starte sleeping again, reduced hot flushes and generally stopped being such an unreasonable cow.

I read up on peri menopause and dropping oestrogen. Also gave dh a couple of articles to read. He was remarkably reasonable in retrospect.

Also, wool duvet, did wonders for night sweats...

Ovestin cream for the dryness - works wonders, but must be prescribed so see GP. HRT for the rest- many sympathies. Writing down everything I'd done through the day in a little note book helped with the brain fog - when I couldn't remember the following day I just looked it up. Thankfully that stage only lasted a few months.

Sorry you're feeling this way, OP. There will be options for you. I got my bloods done at 49 and found out I was menopausal but also that my thyroid had completely packed in. So getting it looked at was life changing. I was massively better within a month on thyroxine + oestrogen patches + Mirena + testosterone cream (sharpens up brain and libido.)

Orangepearl · 22/09/2019 08:17

Take HRT natural stuff doesn’t work. Nature is harsh.

TheSandgroper · 22/09/2019 08:21

My hot flushes are a food intolerance symptom (intolerance is already known). I minded my diet properly and just don't get them, now. Yay for a full nights sleep again.

Some women breeze through, for the rest of us there is the miracle of modern medicine.

Crazycazza · 22/09/2019 10:04

Thanks all, I've tried alternative stuff for months, nothing really helped. Tried HRT patches months ago and had to stop due to migraines. I'm on elleste duet now and tolerating them but it's only been 8 days. He is understanding and he listens when I explain the science behind it all. I just feel like its so much to deal with early in a relationship. Hoping I'm better after 3 months of HRT. I use creams down there but it's the lack of libido and tiredness that is harder to deal with
Thanks again
