Pregnant friend been cheated on

So my best friend who is just under 20week pregnant found out her 'd'p cheated on her and they broke up. I'm devastated for her, shes coming over later today for coffee and a chat. I'll support her no matter what decision she makes for her and the baby but I want to also lay out all of her options moving forward for example the rent s house together in both there names and shes off sick from work for mh reasons makes of the affect her job was having on her.
So I'm looking for advise on what she can do moving forward he does have s job so my first advise would be about making sure he pays for the baby but what else me and dp own our own house and have clear expectations legally on what would happen financially with the house and DCs but I dont know how different legally things are with rent and the fact the baby isnt born yet so no paternal name on birth certificate yet.
Any advise would help really want to make this easier and less painful for her

Perhaps you should be the listening ear and others should give practical advice. You dont yet know what she wants, I expect to talk

Are they married?

If not, register the baby herself, don't put his name on the birth certificate and give baby her surname. His name on birth cert grants him Parental Responsibility - which just enables the feckless ones to make life more difficult (moving schools, medical decisions etc). If he really wants it, he can apply to family court. The truly feckless wont bother.

The surname thing will just bother her later when she's done all the parenting and he's done little to nothing. It also sometimes creates more questions if taking children abroad (2 different surnames).

I also wouldn't permit him at medical appointments and the birth. Her body, her medical event. If he wanted to be there, he shouldn't have fucked other people. 👏

The laws changed it doesn't matter if he's on the certificate. My son's dad wasnt. When he refused to bring him back and kept him for days the police were powerless and I had to apply to court and a solicitor. Although I went round walked him and got him myself eventually lol. I thought the birth certificate thing meant he had no rights but it doesn't.
