I’ve been hurt so much in the past my my ExH and I thought he was everything. (We divorced 5 years ago 2DC) I’m now remarried and he’s a lovely bloke but I’m kinda stuck. I don’t believe anymore in forever or happy ever after, I used to but I was hurt so badly that I don’t think it exists any more.

OP - it’s a much better place to be - not believing in some fairy tale / Hollywood take on romance and relationships.
This way we don’t take what we have for granted. And know that we need to be present in the relationship.

No I don’t but I believe in enjoying what’s good right now & I know if my relationship breaks down i’d be ok - I’ve got through that before.

No relationship is going to be all highs and no lows, if that’s what you mean. The difficult thing is to be able to tell the difference between a temporary low which you can get past and behaviour which is unforgivable.

I do believe in Happily Ever Afters. I don’t think everyone is lucky enough to get one...but you won’t know unless you give something a chance.
There’s a quote that says ‘it is a risk to love, what if it doesn’t work out...but what if it does.’ I can’t remember who said it.

There's no such thing as happily ever after, just stories that haven't ended yet.
