Starting a family on a low(ish) income

Hi ladies,

I hope this is the right place to post. My partner and I want to start a family. We are worried it's simply too expensive and concerned our combined income just isn't enough Sad

Has anyone else worried about this and decided not to have a family?

I'm quite upset and really worried.

Thanks

Consider your job/career trajectory versus having dc straight away plus your age and also your expectations on your standard of living. People will always be better off financially if they don’t have dc you just have to work out what sacrifices you are prepared to make which are different for everyone.

From no take aways and no new clothes until stuff wears out completely up to the bigger items like no overseas holidays or any holidays really.

If your young and have plenty of time do some saving first.

Yeah the childcare part I think gets most parents unless your super wealthy or don't work even with the government help it's still expensive.

But as one of the other posters said if you wait till you can afford children then you never will.

Go for it, you will manage Smile
