Marriage breakup

I'm just looking for some advice or someone to talk to really. I think my marriage might be over. Nothing major has happened but we just seem to have grown apart. Weve been together since we were 20 and met at 18. We are in mid 30s now with 2 kids and a mortgage and all the usual life stuff. However since we got married 8 years things have been rocky. He had a one night thing about 5yrs ago with I forgave him for and this summer discovered that he had tried coke on a boys trip. I was not happy with this at all and since then I've sort of shut down! As I mentioned we seem to be 2 different people now. He is not around much due to work and as I'm off all summer spend most of my time with the kids. Even after all this time we have separate accounts which used to work fine but he never gives me a penny for the kids unless I ask for it. I buy all their clothes and pay for all their days out. He does pay for some of their after school festivities but that's about it. We went on hols as a family and all was fine but I went away with the kids and he didnt give me the price of an icecream for them. We had an argument this week over something silly and didnt speak for a few days. We did chat last night but I think its the end. We haven't been truly happy for a long time..if ever to be honest. We dont want to hate each other and think that maybe separating amicably is the way to go.

Can anyone give me any tips or advice on what to do now or next?

Discuss it with him. Maybe read ‘too good to leave, too bad to stay’ if it’s still available. Consider counselling if you were genuinely happy together at the beginning. But also start thinking about the practicalities, which basically boil down to finance and the kids.

You are about to find out that no matter what your personal arrangements are on finances the law considers you a communist state where all is shared, as per your marriage vows.
