What do you do to spend time with partner?

Does anyone live in the north east and have any suggestions of something to do/somewhere to go at the weekend with partner? My partner works away mon-fri and we only see each other at weekend but don’t feel like we do enough/anything exciting together. Don’t mind travelling for the day as long as it’s worth it. It's always a struggle to think of something to do for the day that's not going out for food or to the pub. Just wondering what other couples with no children do to spend time together. Thanks

Go to York. It's lovely there. There's a weekend market, some lovely tea shops (not necessarily Betty's). There's the old Town lanes near the Minster which is also lovely. Go to Hull and walk over the Humber Bridge. There's also some lovely walks along the river. These might not be north enough for you. I haven't visited Lincoln myself but I've heard it's beautiful.

Thanks @ilovejudgejudy we have been to York a few times and really enjoyed it. May go back at the weekend if we're not sure where else to go

Depends what you enjoy really. If its nice weather, a nice walk along the quayside, pop into the Baltic (its free) and have a drink at the containers on the Gateshead side.
Or a trip to Bamburgh - its lovely there!!

We do exercise together but only occasionally. We like walks and picnics. We like to trawl around antique fairs and shops (we are both collectors) or go to the theatre or cinema and visits to historical sites of mutual interest.

It’s a nice weekend so if we didn’t already have plans I would go for outdoor theatre, concert or cinema with picnic. It’s probably too hot for a long walk and I hurt my ankle anyway. So it is lounging in local park and people watching. Followed by antique trek and visit to gallery to pick up some things.

We’ve got a kid but get a babysitter Smile

For our dates, we do meals but also theatre, cinema, days at the beach, bike rides in the coutryside, gallery and museum visits, shopping trips, gigs etc
You can also do classes together (cooking, crafts etc) or maybe take turns to share hobbies with each other.

Depends where you are in terms of the NE and what sort of things you enjoy.

Day at the races.
Hadrians wall.
National Trust (look around some nice place, tea/coffee and cake)
Afternoon tea somewhere
Museums/art gallerys
Trip to the seaside
anything you fancy really.

What do you enjoy? I love art and culture (I'm in North East!) so galleries, museums and theatre. We're slowly doing up our house so lots of that. We have an allotment too.

We usually do some clothe shopping. I am not far from york so tend to do york, the outlet near york and monks cross and vanguard. We have lunch while we are out make a day of it.

Or chill round the house and go out for dinner. Watch movies at home or go to the cinema. Go for a walk somewhere.

Often we have friends round for a few hours on an evening. Have a couple if drinks, play cards or all just catch up.

We do occassional weekends away by checking on comparison sites, last minute for good deals. Usually book it the Thursday night or friday morning then go friday evening

Spa weekend?

Smellbow · 22/08/2019 13:30

What about somewhere like Craster, Warkworth or Lindsfarne for a walk? Although you'd probably still end up at a pub for lunch!

Mintychoc1 · 22/08/2019 13:37

Is there a Go Ape nearby? I love those things!
Science museum?
