On holiday and his behaviour has confirmed for the final time what a mean, miserable, shitty kind of person he is. Once I'm home that's it... years of emotional abuse and I'm finally seeing the light. Hand hold needed as I know I'll struggle but I can't keep doing this cycle of shittiness......enough already. I'm going to get myself some well deserved self respect.

Write down exactly how he has made you feel/what he has done/how miserable you are when you’re with him (to refer back to). Then spend the first week back getting your ‘ducks in a row’, don’t forget...

• ask friends/colleagues for decent family solicitor recommendation
• copy all important paperwork ie payslips, pension, mortgage statement, any loans or credit card debt, savings and investments, pensions etc.
• remove any important or sentimental things to a place of safety passport, birth certificate etc if he is likely to retaliate or respond badly to a divorce
• work out house finances ie who put down the deposit, who pays the most towards it etc to determine the percentage split

As there are no children it means that there can be a complete break, with no worrying about having to keep in touch even on a superficial level. You deserve to be happy and if your relationship can’t be saved there is little to be gained in staying. Good luck Flowers

Like the idea about the list in particular @ThatDamnedDog. I think I absolutely need to do that sooner or later

Good on you, more power to your elbow.

So did he contribute towards your deposit but isn't on the deeds or mortgage?

thiswillbeitnow · 17/08/2019 19:25

Yes yes that's right @PixiKitKat

I'm worried about how he's going to behave when i tell him. I'll be ok money wise when the house is sold and I take the profit out luckily
