Acting differently around someone you fancy

Is this a bad thing?

My friend fancies a guy at work. She’s normally quite funny and outgoing but she tells me that around this guy she’s pretty shy and would never have the room laughing because she just wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that in front of him.

Is this a bad sign that she’s changing herself for him or is it just a natural response when you fancy someone and are nervous around them?

I think it's quite normal for people to act differently around different people. Especially, if they feel nervous.

Why would you be concerned she is changing herself for him?

Totally natural! But hopefully her true personality will come out as she gets to know him and relaxes a bit. What’s not good is subsuming yourself to the others persons wishes and needs - pretending to be really sporty and outdoorsy when actually you are aren’t etc, or just trying to maintain a certain demeanour.
