why is it always me?
my idiot DP has just had a fight!
he always gets road rage but everyone always backs down from him, i knew this day would come, hes just phoned me at work and told me about some man, DP got out of his car to shout and as he went to get back in his car the man came running at him and kicked him in the head, DP has hit him on the head with something and they've had a fight in the road, no one got out of their cars to stop them. they fought and stopped and drove off, DP has a lump on his head and a black eye coming, this other man had blood on his face, what the hell do you do? i'm assuming this an won't ring the police as it was both their choice to fight. I am so angry at him and he knows if i would of been there i wouldn't of let him do that or i would of run off if he did.
i have never been a supporter of fighting even if there's reason for it i would say its not worth it, but DP is currently waiting for therapy for MH and on AD.

There's nothing that you can do. It's his problem which he needs to deal with. He is an angry man who usually gets away with it by being intimidating and today he met another angry man.

Practically speaking you should take photographs of his injuries (if there are any obvious ones) just in case the other party does report it to the Police so you have a record.

notapizzaeater · 11/07/2019 15:04

Is he getting help for his anger issues ? Normal people don't get out of their car shouting about road rage

rumred · 11/07/2019 15:05

Christ I hope he doesn't live near me
And yes, his problem to sort out, clearly an angry man

Singlenotsingle · 11/07/2019 15:06

Another time it could be a lot worse. He needs anger management Shock

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 11/07/2019 15:09

why is it always me?

It's not you, it's him. Absolutely nothing has happened to you.

Sorry, but he sounds like angry twat. Hopefully this will make him think twice in future. Worth getting checked out though, if he's had a kick to the head. Tell him to keep an eye out for concussion symptoms.

And I hope to god he doesn't kick off at you when things don't go his way in the house.

picallili90 · 11/07/2019 15:10

yes that's what i mean i've took him to a&e mental health team on numerous occasions over his MH.
I've been with him for 8 years but he's not had one fight since being with me, the mental health team have referred him for therapy for it and he's waiting for a letter but i'm just shocked, i've kind of expected it but didn't think it would actually happen.
It just worries me because i'm such an anti confrontation person, what if we ever see this man again? DP can back up his mouth no doubt and its absolutely not scared of anyone, so i worry that he'll just mess with the wrong person one day but there's nothing i can do about it.

Honestly, this would be a deal breaker for me. plenty of people with MH issues and depression manage not to assault other people. I could not be with someone like that. Can you?

picallili90 · 11/07/2019 15:11

I maybe should mention our relationship has been on the rocks for a year and a half because of his MH Sad

Time to jump ship op

My ex was a road rage nut job, still is and he's now 50, he kicks off at anything and anybody, his newish wife and kids are terrified of him.

msmith501 · 11/07/2019 15:15

I've met men like this on the road a few times in the past month and to be frank they frighten me. No mental brakes, no self control and clear no regard for how they act towards others. I saw a man mid-40s cut up a mobility car last week and then stop abruptly and drag the person out from inside (he would have been 70 ish) and start to hit him and abuse him for no reason. Some people are so "always in the right" when clearly they are almost always in the wrong and a threat to others. The problem with hitting someone is that it's easy to do serious damage or disable someone... not a sign of a civilised person. What does he say when you spell this out to him?

pallisers · 11/07/2019 15:16

No @pallisers sad

Then I think you know what you do now. Be careful and talk to someone in real life. He sounds very scary.

TeaForTheWin · 11/07/2019 15:17

Be prepared for a knock at your door as if it has been caught on cctv or reported then the police will be popping by shortly.

I'm sorry but living with someone who I had to take to a&e on 'several occasions' for mental health issues would be too much drama for me, let alone constantly worrying he was going to hurt someone. You aren't married right? Might be a good time to cut your losses and leave. You can't help him. It sounds like he can't even help himself.

Its all very well claiming mental health and depression...are the reasons behind the violence and anger but...at what point do you consider that it's - just who he is. I think 8 years is long enough to come to that conclusion.

picallili90 · 11/07/2019 15:22

i know i know, no we're not married.
i'm just not brave enough Confused

OP posts:
pallisers · 11/07/2019 15:33

I think you'll need more physical courage and bravery if you stay - he is not a safe man. Talk to someone, OP. Call women's aid. Talk to your friend or your parents. You need to get out of this.

TeaForTheWin · 11/07/2019 15:41

Agree with pallisers. It isn't going to get better. Imagine spending the rest of your life on the edge of your seat wondering what he is going to do next. It sounds like it is escalating again too. Maybe best to get going incase he starts taking that rage out on you.

loveyoutothemoon · 11/07/2019 17:52

Not sure why people would get out of their cars and get involved, why would they risk being hurt?

ConfCall · 11/07/2019 18:01

The onlookers were right not to get involved in a spat between a pair of daft chavs.

Get rid of this person. He’s a liability.

pinkyredrose · 11/07/2019 18:05

He sounds a total cunt. Good that he got battered, sounds like it was a long time coming.
