Anxiety and work

Will telling my employer I’m suffering from anxiety reflect badly on me? Just that really, it’s not my job that’s causing it. Any advice appreciated

It shouldn’t reflect badly on you.

I work for a large organisation with an HR department/policies on mental health/union etc. I’ve made them aware of my anxiety and I get paid time off to attend appointments. I’ve also made them aware of how I’m likely to react to certain situations and I have access to occupational health and workplace counselling.

I’ve worked for other places where I probably wouldn’t have said anything. A smaller organisation, if I’d just started and was within a probationary period, if I had an awful manager. There shouldn’t be a stigma against mental health but the reality of everyday life is quite different.

What’s your workplace culture like?

It depends how big the work place is ai suppose,

I’m just not sure, everyone is very supportive there, I’ve been there for nearly 4years, I just don’t want them to think I will always be off - I won’t, this will be the first time with it

Are you intending to take some sick leave?
