Can a volatile relationship be saved?

That's it really. Long term relationship that can be very voliatile. Plenty of love there but naturally not a relationship I/we expected to be in.

Read conflicting advice online if it can be 'fixed' or not so I wondered if anyone had any personal experience. Did it ever change? And if so, what steps did you both take?

Just to add, both parties are willing to put work in.

What do you get out of this relationship now in terms of your needs being met?.

Why is the relationship volatile in the first place? What are the root causes of this volatility?.

Why is this not a relationship you expected to be in?. Is this a relationship of massive highs and crushing lows?.

Are there children involved?.
