Conserned over step sons eating ....

My 12 year old stepson eating habits have become a consern to me .

He barely eats anything when he comes over and his mother gives him biscuits for brekkie or sweets I was shocked and offered him a cooked breakfast and he wolfed it down
the other day I made a roast dinner and all he ate was the chicken ... If we go out to eat all he wants is a burger or chicken nuggets.

A few times he's come over he's fainted .. which brought to my attention that he obviously hasn't eaten much and said he wasn't hungry.

His mother is lazy and will just chuck sweets or very unhealthy food at him... He always tells us .
There is another occasion where hes only eaten a hot dog and a handful of mini sausages all day...I can name many more but it will be to long to read..

My husband and me are really conserned as his mother doesn't care .

( He isn't being abused )

What can I do ???

So, he doesn't eat much when you offer, maybe he doesn't eat much when she does either? So she gives him high calorie stuff to try to make up for it?

If you think there's an issue underlying it, see if you can get him to the GP.

She doesn't give him the junk food and sweets to make up for it ... It's just because it's convenient .

I suggested it to my husband about the GP but he procrastinates to much ... And I feel like I don't have much authority to get anything done ...😐

I don’t think there is much you can do apart form keep offering him food. Depending on what he likes, maybe he would like doing some cooking with one of you? Is there a blokey sort of cook book that might appeal and you could choose stuff to make each time he’s with you? It might broaden his taste buds a bit etc. My kids are younger but I recently bought a recipe book from Tesco and we’re making one recipe a week from it as I’ve been in a deep dark cooking rut lol.
Tough one though. Good luck.

I didn't think of that , I'll give it a go 😁. Hopefully he'll get better at eating x

Perhaps she gives him that good because she would rather see him eat something than nothing at all.

It sounds like he eats very little at your house as well. He’s 12 so old enough to ask for food if he wants it. The fainting would concern me - do you think he might have concerns about his weight or have an eating disorder?

Any chold who isnt ing fed probably is being neglected. Call the social work

How the fuck do you know what her motives are?

Sounds to me like your partner needs to actually speak with his ex about it rather than you just coming up with your own conclusion. As PP has said it sounds like he’s barely eating at yours either.
It sounds like he has food issues which your partner and his mother should take him to the doctors about.

What does he eat at school OP? If he’s coming from school not having eaten much then is that his choice? Or has he had no £ on his dinner card potentially to be able to eat?
