Family that drinks. *sigh*

The un-expected consequences of going boring grey rock with alcholic brother. The remainder of my wider family have taken his side. They beleived him when he claimed I was denying him access to the money left to him. [Its been placed in a legal trust due to his mental incapacity to manage his own affairs meaning he has to approach the trustees of said trust and not me].

So in the spate of 18 months both my lovely parents have died, my brother hit end stage alcholism resulting in me deciding enough is way more than enough when I found out how much he had bled my parents for after he tried to land his substantial debts and CCJ's at my door. None of my remaining family [they all drink heavily] will speak to me because of brothers claims I have denied him money. I am intending to stand my ground as frankly I believe my DH & kids deserve so much better than worrying said relatives could turn up at our door to demand money and cause trouble.

But its left me so darn sad I have had to do all this. It makes me even sadder to know my poor parents must have done so much to try and protect us from those nasty selfish relatives. Once they had died the worms all started to crawl out of the woodwork to see if they could manipulate me. I honestly think the most recent nastiness that had to have legal input was down to the realisation I will not give serious alcholics money they have not been named to have to support their habits.

It just rotten well sucks and right now I do not know anyone else who has gone through and got to the other side of no contact with the family they grew up with.
