I left an abusive relationship 2 weeks ago. He hit me with a bin bag full of shoes on my back, head and arm. This wasn't the first time, so I left. It's been 2 weeks now and I'm feeling less angry about it and I'm scared I might give in and go back to him. I really really don't want to go back but I miss the life I had (good parts). How on earth I can stay strong.

You can and you will be strong.

Consider that next time he might kill you.

Do people in RL know what he is like? Telling family and friends can be beneficial as they can support you to stay strong, and they can also Charlton if you end up back with him. Have the police been involved? Have you documented the abuse? If you were bruised, then looking back at photos can help keep you strong. Do you have DC?

Have you been directed to the Freedom Programme? You can do it on line.

He WILL hurt you again, and his behaviour WILL escalate if you go back to him.

*challenge you, not Charlton...

You can stay strong because there is no alternative. Being abused once is one time too many. You did the hardest thing already, which was leaving, now you just need to take one day at a time.

If you want to be assaulted again, or even killed, then go back. If you value yourself and your life, you will never go back.

Dinks66 · 23/03/2019 21:03

Write down in your phone (I guess you'll have your phone with you at all times) everything that he did wrong or any time he hurt you.
When you feel that you are about to give in...read all your notes.

Every time you go back there you're reinforcing that his behaviour is acceptable. Abusive men don't change, take it from someone who knows..
