Do a land registry search on line - costs about £3. Did you sign any documents at the time he/you bought the house? Did you keep copies? Did you check the situation before you moved in?

Tortington · 10/07/2007 15:04

is there a mortgage?

RubySlippers · 10/07/2007 15:04

if your name is not on the mortgage or title deeds then there may not be much you can do
Was there any other arrangements in place to show you paid into the house etc

QUNDA · 10/07/2007 15:06

no i didnt sign not thing because they said the if he put my name on there he would have to put down more because my score was low

OP posts:
QUNDA · 10/07/2007 15:06

OP posts:
QUNDA · 10/07/2007 15:07

OP posts:
harleyd · 10/07/2007 15:07

why was your name not on the mortgage?

aloha · 10/07/2007 15:07

You aren't living there now?
Go and see a solicitor pronto.

Tortington · 10/07/2007 15:07

i would go see another solicitor - i presume you have documentation provig you put money into the purchase of the house?

TootyFrooty · 10/07/2007 15:08

So you didn't actually technically buy the house with him. You moved into his house and that's a whole different can of worms I'm afraid. You might be able to establish some sort of equitable interest in the house but you would need to be able to prove all payments you've made.

aloha · 10/07/2007 15:08

You will probably have some evidence of paymnts - what did you pay btw?
Bank statements, transfers of money, statements by other people that you were paying etc.

RubySlippers · 10/07/2007 15:08

have a look at this for more information

harleyd · 10/07/2007 15:09

didnt you fall out with him a year ago? why didnt you do anyhing then

QUNDA · 10/07/2007 15:11

he paid the mortgage but somebody said i can put a lien on the house

OP posts:
aloha · 10/07/2007 15:13

So what did you pay then? Paying for furniture or shopping gives you no rights over the house.

TaylorsMummy · 10/07/2007 15:14

if you didn't pay into the house and you've been living apart for a year then i don't think you have any rights

TootyFrooty · 10/07/2007 15:16

Did you contribute to the deposit? I think you're stuffed I'm afraid. You can't put a "lien" on the house unless you can establish that you have some rights in the house.

QUNDA · 10/07/2007 15:20

i remodel the kitchen and bathroom

OP posts:
TootyFrooty · 10/07/2007 15:23

Did you pay for all the work to be done? Have you got receipts?

harleyd · 10/07/2007 15:23

think you are just pissed off because he moved his new girl in. get over it. didnt you start a thread yesterday about how you could get back with him. and also one about how you could change career to become a mortgage advisor?

QUNDA · 10/07/2007 15:25

yes

OP posts:
theman · 10/07/2007 15:26

if you weren't on the mortgage he can pretty much just claim you were living there as a tenant and the money you gave was rent.

TaylorsMummy · 10/07/2007 15:56

sorry but i can see harley's point tbh.sounds a bit like sour grapes imo.
