Is there an equivalent of the Freedom Programme for men?

A friend of mine's marriage has broken down, and it is becoming clear that it was emotionally abusive. He's had counselling which wasn't very beneficial, I suspect it was too soon.

If he was female I would suggest the Freedom Programme to him, but I am guessing that as it is through Women's Aid that it is not available to/appropriate for men.

Does anyone know where there might be resources that will help him?

www.mankind.org.uk/

The website says the course is suitable for both male and female victims but that the in-person courses do tend to be all women in practice. He could certainly do the online version regardless.

Thank you PickAChew - that's exactly what I've been looking for. Very much appreciated.

Thank you Hidingtonothing - it didn't occur to me to look. I just assumed it wouldn't be suitable.

Sorry, I should have thought about this before I posted. My friend now sees that the relationship was unhealthy and is starting to open his eyes to the manipulation and lies. Does anyone have any advice in how I can gently help him to see that it was abusive? I don't want to alienate him when he needs support, but it is clear that he is struggling.

The online Freedom Programme is suitable, although not pitched to, men.

The actual real life meetings are women only.

You might want to look at the menandboys coalition web-site? www.menandboyscoalition.org.uk/

It might have some useful resources.

Calmzone is worth a look too.
