When did you introduce the kids?

Good evening

I have been seeing someone for 5 months and it's going really well, I think I have fallen in love with him and we talked about our future together etc.
I have 2 children, 7 and 2 and he has a one and half year old. When would be the best time to introduce him to the kids and for me to meet his. Has anyone got any tips for a smooth meeting for everyone?

TIA

I would say I'm afraid it's a bit too early for this, you may really like him but 5 months is no time to get to know somebody's at all. But when the time comes, a neutral zone so no jealousy or pettiness comes out, like a new park or a close-by day trip.

I think once it’s done casually and you’re just around each other as friends and that after the first meeting it doesn’t become a case where he’s always around, then between 6 and 12 months is reasonable.

I’d leave it till the far end of that myself and keep it 100% as friends and infrequent.

Not yet. Between 8-12 months in my opinion and even then justvstart off introducing him as a friend and making sure that it’s rare that he’s around when you have your kids. If he’s there every week it will grate on them.

Agreed on 8 months onwards and also be very clear of what your parenting styles are and whether you are both on the same page before you introduce each other to children. Have long conversations about expectations and also be prepared for conflict and it not to be rainbows and butterflies.
Blended families are hard work and you need to be prepared for the challenges before you are both placed in a conflicted and unhappy situation.
Preparation, communication and perseverance are key.

Good luck op!

Thank you for the replies, so everyone agrees to give it a lot longer then, i was going to go with my gut and when it feels right to go for it, maybe leave it for a bit yet.
My ex introduced his new girl friend after 6 weeks, don't get me started on that.
