Is this just a rebound or could it be something else?

I feel a bit silly asking this actually, please be gentle.
My STBXH left 9 months ago (later found out he had an affair) and after 6 months separated I went online dating.
I was just looking for something casual but met this lovely guy (after some dud dates) and we really clicked straight away.

Since then we text or talk on the phone every day, spend EOW together (because we both have kids) and generally just really get on and love each other.

He is also going through a separation and divorce so we understand what each is going through and can be supportive.
I never thought I'd meet someone so quickly and obviously we are being careful about not rushing things.

I just can't get over how intensely I feel about him and how open and honest we've been able to be. Lately I am even thinking about how we could make it work long term. But then I think "surely it's too soon."

Am I being ridiculous thinking it could work out?

You can’t choose when you will meet someone who you could have a future with. So he may very well be that person, you just have to tread a little more carefully than usual and make sure your feelings are for him, and not a response to everything that’s happened in the past year. I think the fact you have had a few dud dates first is reassuring!

Hope things keep going well between you!

Thanks itssoooFluffy I had about 6 dates before we met, actually.
I think you're right that we need to tread carefully.
It would be easy to want to just 'replace' my ex but actually I would like a quite different kind of relationship this time.
