Worried about my friend

What do you define as a heavy drinker.
My friend has a good 6to 8 pints a day. They drink in there lunch break, when they finish work and again when they get home. I've now had to lend them money until there next payday. I've spoken to them and all they say is. It doesn't stop me getting up for work does it. Not sure if this is typical daily drinking or it's a little more. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stop lending them money. You are better off hiding it under the mattress or in an old sock. For a rainy day.

Anyway, by doing that you are enabling them.

Why? That's what you need to ask yourself.

They're an alcoholic, a functioning alcoholic

My dad drank a bottle of vodka a day and still went to work. Until his whole body gave up and he ended up off work, retiring early in health grounds and then dying because of his drinking. Sorry to be so blunt but you friend is an alcoholic. And that kills you. Tell them. Don't loan them money. And continue to be a lovely friend until it's time for them to lose everything because it may come to that before the wise up.
