My aunty is my mum figure/dc gran figure.

Looking for inspiration for what to get her. Have bought her so much jewellery/perfume over the years. Along with my SILs, we've bought tickets for a night out for us all, but they're way too cheap to be a proper gift.

Budget is approx £60, but just being nosey about what others are buying too!

Mine is getting;

A knitting set she asked for
Smellies she likes
Chocolates
Um, I can't remember what else! Grin

In the past it's been pottery, nice per una clothing, nice seasalt bag and scarf, etc.

Does she have any craft she enjoys? What else does she like?

merrygrinchmas · 15/12/2018 11:42

Thanks @subspace

She doesn't too crafts. She goes to a weekly dance class, or she did, until her new job meant working shifts. And she reads.

She's bloody hard to buy for! And if I ask her, she'll tell me she really doesn't want me to get her anything, then eventually relent and I'll be back to buying perfume again.

What type of dancing class? I'm a dancer, maybe I can help!

What type of books?

subspace · 15/12/2018 15:24

Spa day or facial voucher? Mani and/or pedi?

Baileys/posh drink?

subspace · 15/12/2018 15:25

Audible subscription, or a book from waterstones with gift receipt to exchange it if you've got her taste wrong?

NotTheFordType · 15/12/2018 15:29

Does she not have a wishlist?

TBH i would find it very passive aggressive not to.

But surely more useful than the usual xmas crap of toiletries.

merrygrinchmas · 15/12/2018 19:16

@NotTheFordType You would find what passive aggressive?

@subspace ceroc dancing... I think Confused

She's not much of a drinker and I got her a massage voucher last year or year before.

I'm getting my mum a nice diary, it is one she specifically likes, my dd has painted a mug for her, some nice chocolates and some slipper socks.

Have you seen the book subscriptions you can buy? We got one for a family member who loves to read, it was around £60 for six months subscription. They absolutely loved it! The recipient ges to go online and say which genres etc they like and each month a hardback book is posted out to them. I’m sure they must sell them in a few places but I used Not On The Highstreet.

Afternoon tea somewhere nice.

subspace · 15/12/2018 22:02

So a nice dance shoes bag, nice dancing shoes (modern jive t-bar shoes most likely), a nice floaty dress that will flow when she twirls, vouchers (I think ceroc do them), print off a list of nearby class nights as there's bound to be ceroc on somewhere nearby more than one night a week so shift work doesn't have to mean no dancing! A freshen up kit might be nice, things like mints, deodorant, a small hand towel, hair grips/bands, nice refillable water bottle - bonus if it has her name on as they're commonly left behind and need to be reunited! And some nice individual cans/bottles of posh drinks eg bottle green, j2o for a nice drink to have out while dancing. Oh, and a spiky massage ball and foot cooling gel, for tired achey muscles and feet!
