I was hoping you could help me. I have been on a few dates with a guy that has 2 children by a previous relationship. The problem is, he doesn't know how to cope with his ex not letting him see his children. The children are 1 and 2.5 and his ex is taking a lot of maintenance of him, taking him to court for more money, yet wont let him see the kids at all. He is fighting to get to see them and has no problem paying maintenance for them. I see him very upset over it all. He has told me he doesn't know how to deal with it and pushes those away close to him who just want to help.

What words can I use to help him through this? I myself am divorced and would never stop my kids from seeing their Father.

This shouldn't be your problem after only a few dates OP. Maybe he needs to be sorted and more settled before he brings you into the mix.

Is he going to court?

I want to help as a friend first and foremost rather than a dater.

Yes he is going to court, the court in the Republic of Ireland supports the Mother more than the Father. There is an arrangement in place but she just slams the door in his face when he turns up.

When you say there is an arrangement made, is it an actual court order? If it is he needs to call the police and stay outside her front door until they arrive.
