Can anyone who has been married to a narcissist describe their behavior. I am trying to determine if that is what i am married to.

Never allowed an opinion. Should you ever (dare) use your own initiative they will criticise you no end. Selfish beyond belief - their agenda will always ensure their needs are taken care of. No empathy unless they can see some gain for themselves. Rage when they realise they may have been cornered or may have to be accountsble, so shouting makes you retreat. Huge sense of entitlement.

He gets home from his work trip, whicj i had two days warning of, and when i dont run to greet him with a hug kiss, greets me with, "come on, show some warmth". On his terms.

I was with a narc for two years. My daughters father.

The other thing I noted was that he had no sense of consequence. None. He didn't care as he thought he was above reproach.

Also a sociopathic liar.

The therapist who tried to help him told me to take my kid and run.

I did, 6000km away.

But does a narcissist or psychopath ever have self awareness? Or not

TBH I just think you don’t like this man at all and the feeling is growing. He may or may not have mental health issues and display disorder in his personality. But we all do to some extent. It’s impossible to diagnose him or anybody like this.

But the label doesn’t matter it is what you want and what you feel. If you don’t want to be with him and have no feelings, then you need to make plans to leave.

I have a question, can a narcissist become self aware and learn to manage themselves for the good of others?

I managed to get worried as I read a lot of the traits and thought OMG that's me, but I am diagnosed with anxiety and am struggling with a lot of stress (job, single parent of 13&10, separated alcoholic spouse, court, lawyer, children's protection, the schools & dogs). I guess it's my internalised anger that can pop up as rage which really bothers me.

Is it possible that other factors mask narcisism?
