Am I being too "precious" or are they taking the mick?

About 1 month ago I signed up on a training program for lone parents where they basically find you a work placement and help you look for a job.

Anyway most of it has gone well, I have my work placement but the women I work for always has meetings booked etc so to work around it they found me a second work placement somewhere else to fill in these "meeting days".

Trouble is they never know when these meeting days are so I'm being sent from pillar to post every week never knowing where I'm supposed to be or what I'm supposed to be doing and as a sufferer of social anxiety this is a NIGHTMARE for me.

Anyway last week I was told that the training scheme were being inspected this week and my name had been mentioned as someone they wanted to interview so during the time I was supposed to be job searching last week they ushered me down to an office where I was given a "mock interview" and advised on what answers to give etc!! I wasn't too pleased at that to start with and I was told that tomorow I would have to miss work to go for the real interview (which is of no benefit to me, just them), today I arrived at work to be told that someone else was coming in to interview me regarding health and safety TODAY, I had no time to prepare or anything.

I got home about an hour ago to find 3 missed calls on the phone, didnt recognise the number so left it but they soon called back...it was the training place again asking if they could come to my house to get me to sign 3 papers that should've been signed when I first joined up!! I said I was going out (as I'm already annoyed about it all) and so they said they needed them doing before the inspectors got there tomorow, I felt like saying "thats not my problem".

Anyway I'm supposed to start at 10am tomorow, they want me to go in at 9:30 instead in the hope that I can sign these papers before the inspectors get there I'm already missing my sons school play because of it all and I have another apointment tomorow with someone else and they're more or less saying "they'll TRY and let me go in time for my other apointment"

Please be honest, am I being a bit "precious" about it or are they taking the mick?

want to add - it might serve you to find out the motive the company has for doing this scheme????

i presume its not out of the goodness of their corperate hearts.

i presume they are being financially recompensated for thier " time with you" their " effort with you" their " training of you" their " staff time" their "insurances"

etc
etc

thats my money they are wasting by not doing what they are suppost to do.

sounds to me like they've stuffed up big time with following correct procedure and they're about to be found out if these papers aren't signed.

are you being paid? if so, by the placement company or government? are they being paid to train you?

are you pleased with the way they are training you?

if not then you've got a great opportunity to point out that they are abusing their opportunity of having a trainee by messing you about with the work/placement etc.

as for their very generous attempt to "try and let you go in time" i'd just blimmin leave when you need to! and if you're feeling charitable then tell them you'll come in 10mins early to sign the forms - doesn't take 30 mins to sign a paper.

and are they allowed to coach you on how to respond in the interview? hardly un-biased and impartial!!!

have you got a manager or something on the placement scheme you can speak to about the placement itself?
