Who lives where after separation

Hi everyone,
it's my first post on here so please bear with me!
My husband and I are separating after 10 years married and 15 years together. We have an 8yo and 10yo.
I've told him I want out as I've stopped being in love with him. He is struggling to accept this but I know I can't give him any more and I can't make him happy.
The problem is, how to we cope financially living apart? We own the house we share. I know he can't afford rent on his own. I would just about make our current mortgage on my own but I'm worried about him financially.
Do any of you have experience or ideas on how to live apart or separately or house share etc and make this less of a problem?
I'm sorry if this sounds a silly question but it's keeping me awake at night.
Thank you

After a similar time married to you, I increased my hours and moved out with children in to a rented house.
Obviously stopped making any contributions to the mortgage. That was 12 months ago and we are now at the end of the divorce process.
The reality is that I’m going to stay on the mortgage as it’s unlikely the bank would release me. So we have agreed 4 years and then look at it.
We both just about manage to pay for our own homes. It’s tough but I’m lucky I was able to increase my earning potential to do this.
It was my husbands house before mine, which was why I agreed to moving out (with the children)

Thank you for coming back to me. My husband and I bought the house together but I put down quite a lot more collateral than he did. I'm sure at first he would be ok for me to stay here with the children whilst we sorted details, but I worry about him affording rent elsewhere.

If he can't afford anywhere to live that is suitable for him to have the dc, it would seemingly be appropriate for you to sell the house so you are both able to have a reasonable standard of living.
