Hi, DH & I had a fantastic social life pre having 3 DCs. Now alone time is virtually non-existent. (DH works away 75% of the time). We have the offer of an overnight sitter for our anniversay. Sat lunch time to Sunday afternoon. We live in Manchester but looking for something really love to do / place to stay / amazing place to eat / unique activity to do. Any tried & tested recommendations? We live in Manchester but could travel. TIA

Don't try too hard! Stay near to home. Book a nice hotel. Head off after lunch. Check in. Do some exploring. Have a fancy tea. See a show / watch a movie / have some drinks. Back to hotel for sleep (or other). Long lie. Breakfast. Wander. Go home rested and refreshed. I've never been to Manchester! But must be loads to do except eat, sleep, have sex and be child free for 24 hours!

My best date is in London.
Start in Waterloo, walk along the south bank to the Tate modern. Walk around. Go to the top floor for a drink. Walk across the millennium bridge and up to convent garden and go the the crushing pipe (there is a busking opera outside in The terrace. Eat dinner. Drink wine.

Get a hotel in central London and spend the night. Preferably with a pool.

It's far from Manchester, but doable.

Best date of my life.

Loads of country hotels with spa’s around Manchester.

I'll not comment on the evening part but on the Sunday what about a nice walk in a park? Even if it's raining walking with umbrellas is still lovely. I don't know Manchester so I can't recommend a park but I'm sure there are some lovely ones.

Enjoy your weekend OP.

Have you got a budget?

I'd drive up to L'Encume (two Michelin stars) on the edge of the Lake District. An hour/hour and a half from Manchester. Fabulous restaurant, beautiful place. Overnight stay there £££ or nearby hotel. Sunday morning walks or leisurely breakfast.
