Please help - I really think my marriage is being destroyed by snoring

I don’t know what else I can do. I’ve tried:

Sprays
Lozenges
Nose clips
Mouth guards
Diet experimentation
Acupuncture
Gp (who was very dismissive - just looked at me and said “well you don’t have a thick neck”)
Some horrible contraption that made me look like a medieval peasant with toothache

What can I do? I haven’t always snored and I haven’t put on any significant amount of weight (and am a normal height/weight/bmi). Is there some sort of surgery I can have? Dh has the patience of a saint but it’s not fair on him.

Thanks again for all the messages - have had a good read through now.

Dh is very tall so we had a bed especially made about three years ago so no chance of changing beds or mattresses! But the snoring predated this anyway. I snore in all the positions I sleep in apparently but I don’t sleep on my back.

I’m going to ring the gp on Tuesday and make an appointment to ask for referral to a sleep clinic. I’m not sure how easily I’ll sleep knowing I’m being watched though. How did you folks who’ve done it find it?

Nadia I don’t think he’ll leave me, no. But I do think it’s unfair on him and stressful for us both (and, if they’re to be believed, the dc too who claim they can hear me!!)

Oh also I do appear to hold my breath for seconds at a time so would seem like sleep apnoea?

Not breathing is classic sleep apnea. It was finally catching my dh doing that in the daytime that convinced him to do the sleep study.

Max silicone earplugs, you can get them on Amazon, are the best ear plugs I've ever tried. Check out the reviews!!
