Do men move on faster than women, and if so, why?

It is my experience that they do, and anecdotally what I hear from others.

Within 4 months of my Mum’s death, my Dad was interested in someone else and they have now been together for 10 years.

Nano seconds after our separation, my ex got together with someone else. Really nano-seconds Sad.

What does it mean - did my ex really not give a shit in the first place, so moving on was easy?

Another thing worth noting, is that for some people, the relationship has ended in their minds way before it officially ended.

So they have already dealt with the end of it. When you've already emotionally checked out of the relationship, it's easier to move on quickly.

I recall a friend telling me that she knew her marriage was over after one incident with her DH. They didn't get divorced for another 5/6 years. Trying because of kids etc. They tried marriage counselling and she never ever told him about the incident and how it hurt her... but that was a turning point for her.

No, men do not move on quicker. Usually the loss sinks in after a while.

Only IMMATURE BOYS move on very quickly without taking the time to heal.

Women move on quicker because it is normal for women to speak with their friends/family members etc about how the relationship ended and how it affected them emotionally while men have been taught to 'suck it up'.

I don't think men move on quicker, it think it depends on the individual. Often people appear to move on quickly because they've been unhappy for ages and they are finally free.

Thanks for all your thoughts.

I personally agree with the poster who said that after separation, men might have more opportunity to meet new partners than their exes - generalising I know.

Also the narcissistic element in some cases my ex - lacking in empathy but needing that admiration.

But the speed with which ex has moved on has really poleaxed me. As if it negates our relationship entirely.

Thought the quote was apt.

That was me bakerstreet- only basing it on my experience with two partners an the males i work with ! They suddenly have all this time on their hands to go on dates, whilst I was run ragged from morn till eve just keeping head above water with doing it all! There was no time in the emotional fallout to even contemplate romance!
