So if someone regularly says you look lovely and compliments your clothing...
If they buy you thoughtful gifts ...
If they source a hard to get film you remember and present you with the DVD version....
Would you say just being friendly or is there an actual attraction thing going on here?

I’d say attraction.

Chewbecca · 25/04/2018 18:03

I might do this for a very good girlfriend.

Are both parties single?

Nope both parties firmly attached ....

Then the person buying the gifts and giving compliments has crossed a line imo. If DP did this I’d class it as cheating.

UndomesticHousewife · 25/04/2018 20:05

Yes if it’s a married man giving another woman (or whichever sex) these these things then there’s something going on.

halfwitpicker · 25/04/2018 20:07

Attraction going on.

Chewbecca · 25/04/2018 20:11

Well I wouldn't be happy with DH behaving like this towards a female at work.

SomeKnobend · 25/04/2018 20:29

It goes beyond normal friendship, doesn't it? What's going on OP?

saltandvinegarcrisps1 · 25/04/2018 20:33

I would say.....who are you and what have you done with husband?

saltandvinegarcrisps1 · 25/04/2018 20:34

Aka. Not normal in a "friendship"

DownAtFraggleRock · 25/04/2018 20:35

yeah, this.

GardenStreet · 25/04/2018 20:42

It's another woman - hmmmm......
I had thought 'lovely friend' so kind thoughtful etc always so keen to go the extra mile be helpful etc.
Someone else commented that it seemed more of an attraction thing.
Not quite sure what is going on hadn't really thought it was odd in any way.
But now your responses have got me wondering.

Chewbecca · 25/04/2018 21:01

Female to female and you are both straight?

In that case I revert to my earlier comment that I might do that for a v good female friend.

SomeKnobend · 25/04/2018 21:40

Do you know if she's straight, gay or bi OP? Does she have any kind of self-esteem issues that might make her a bit try-hard in friendships, or is it specifically you who she treats this way and not any other friends?

sykadelic · 26/04/2018 03:13

Gender and sexual attraction totally matters in this case.

I do all sorts of things for other people if I like them (as people). I bought some succulents and had 12. A girl admired them so I gave her one. Another friend likes one so I got a pretty glass holder, painted it and gave it to her (I did the same for myself of course).

Sometimes it's just nice to be nice. She might like you as a person and want to become closer friends. She might just be a really nice person.

I wouldn't think it was odd. I know some people would but in my experience those people either haven't had someone do something nice just to be nice, and they wouldn't either.

Delamereroad · 26/04/2018 19:46

Absolutely wouldn't give it a thought.
It's helpful friend.
Can't see anything else in it.
