Is it even possible to forget to feed your dog?

This sounds ridiculous but here goes...

My partner and I got a puppy last year. We agreed beforehand that he would take care of food and meals and I take care of everything else. However, my partner keeps putting off going to the butchers, leaves it too late and tries to get me to go instead. It's the only thing he has to do for this dog and I feel like I can't rely on him. I've told him how I feel and nothing changes. I'm surprised he's being this irresponsible and it concerns me. :'(

It’s possible, but he’s not forgetting is he? He’s deliberately not doing it because he doesn’t want to. He sounds like a dick. You’re probably storing up trouble for the future if you stay with him and do the jobs he can’t be bothered to do.

stayhomeclub · 16/04/2018 19:11

I agree that he isn’t forgetting, he just doesn’t want to.

Notsleptin2wholegoddamnyears · 16/04/2018 19:13

We’d never be able to forget to feed the dog, follows you everywhere until she’s fed! But if he’s to irresponsible to sort the food I would just take the task on myself, wouldn’t want the dog to go without because my partner couldn’t be arsed to sort it out.

Can anyone supply any peer reviewed evidence of the harm done mixing raw and dry feeds in the same meal?

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 16/04/2018 19:18

Next time he ‘forgets’ feed the dog his dinner.

Do this!

43percentburnt · 16/04/2018 19:25

I see he trots out the line ‘you should do more at home because I work out the home’. If roles were reversed he would say ‘you get an easier day as you don’t work evenings and you get to relax in the car/train on the way home so you should do more round the house as you have evenings free’.

Whatever you do he has a reason to do less at home. He earns more, that’s his reason. He earns less, well you have it cushier as you get paid more per hour.

He is telling you exactly who he is and how he thinks the drudge work is your work.

Cuntpuffin - I raw feed my dog and am a member of a few raw feeding sites. Some sites are vehemently opposed to mixed feedings and other sites and people say it's better to mix than not offer raw food. I only raw feed (and my.dig only.likes to 've fed once a day) so have no experience of mixed feeding.

FluffyWhiteTowels · 17/04/2018 07:26

I've heard heard of feeding raw chicken?

category12 · 17/04/2018 07:38

What's the point of him? He doesn't value your work, thinks you should do more cos of working from home and he can't be arsed with the dog.

trojanpony · 17/04/2018 07:39

The poor puppy! It’s a baby and he isn’t feeding it!

I would leave someone over this... he is an horrible man I strongly advise against children.
it’s an incredible cruel and irresponsible thing to do but you just already know this.

What is the puppy being fed when you run out of food? Is it being left hungry?

trojanpony · 17/04/2018 07:41

Sorry missed the update - glad someone is feeding the puppy.

I’d still consider leaving him over this - presumably you’d keep the best bit of the relationship (the puppy) because he is doing sweet FA in that area

blueskypink · 17/04/2018 07:50

You're feeding your puppy raw chicken legs?!

Cricrichan · 17/04/2018 09:29

Yes, raw chicken legs are perfect for dogs! Raw meat, bones and organs provide exactly what they need. Much better than the processed food full of grain fillers and additives that cause so many health problems for the dogs and are usually much more expensive.

Cooking it kills a lot of good stuff for the dogs and makes bones hard and brittle that might pierce their insides. Raw feeding also helps with maintaining white and healthyI teeth, less likely to have allergies and other health problems. Small poos that barely smell too.

3luckystars · 17/04/2018 09:33

Do you like the dog?

Myheartbelongsto · 17/04/2018 09:36

I always thought dogs shouldn't eat chicken bones?

EweDoEwe · 17/04/2018 09:37

What is the actual point of having this man in your life?

Passive aggressive twat. He doesn’t forget to feed the dog, he doesn’t want to, he can’t be arsed, he thinks you should do it - take your pick.

I would forget to cook him anything, forget to throw his clothes in the washing machine whilst I was doing mine, forget to have sex with him.

Cricrichan · 17/04/2018 09:38

Not cooked bones, but raw bones, yes. They're soft and provide great nutrients and Help clean their teeth.
