Pelvic floor exercises....
Hi guys, just after any encouraging success stories!
After the last time I had sex and felt very little I have decided to start seriously doing pfe in the hope of improving sensation for us both.
I started 6 days ago and I'm doing them 6 times a day, Iv also purchased some kegel balls which I intend to use daily whilst showering.
Now I know this is something that's going to take time and effort and I also know I will need to continue doing them forever.....Ild just love to hear if anyone has managed to improve their sex life through doing these exercise??
Many thanks x

Would this topic not be better suited to the Sex board?

saraf78 · 30/03/2018 20:33

Yes but it wouldn't let me post it there.

Post on General Health?. But while I am here- you do 3 sets of 10 a day- long holds- hold each lift for 10 seconds. The 10 quick flicks after ( 3 x a day.)

You may not see any difference for 3-4 months and after that you still have to keep going.

saraf78 · 31/03/2018 01:04

Thank you rosa62. Iv downloaded the NHS squeeze app, which is great at getting u to do the right ones, im doing them 6 times a day and using the kegel ball for 15 mins every day....fingers crossed it improves!

So you have to do Kiegels every day for the rest of your life??? how depressing.

TellOutMySoul · 31/03/2018 01:06

My pelvic floor is shot too.

saraf78 · 31/03/2018 02:24

If it works and gives me some sensation back I shall happily do them for the rest of my life without complaint lol

go and see a pelvic physio. You aren't doing anything useful if you are doing them wrong, which is really easy to do. A good physio will also steer you away from kegel balls which are not the best thing to be using. Worth spending the money on an appointment for assessment and technique....

saraf78 · 31/03/2018 02:55

I can feel the difference already to be honest, as in the squeezing is getting easier. Also read the way to test ur working the right muscles is to try and stop the urine flow....I couldn't do it when I started 6 days ago but have successfully managed it tonight (yay)

stopping the urine flow is not the right way, and stopping it too often can lead to bladder issues.

If you have a very weak floor, it may also be more beneficial to do exercises in a supine position rather than upright for the first few weeks.

Seriously, see a pelvic physio...

saraf78 · 31/03/2018 05:31

Yea I know it's not adviseable to do that often as it can cause a uti .
I did see someone years ago and she just told me what to do and sent me away with a leaflet.
Iv found much more advice on the net and also on the NHS squeeze app which also reminds u to do them regularly.
I know what to do and how often etc and that it will take time but I just came on here looking for actual success stories.

Sorry, then yes, I've had some success, fixing a mild prolapse and some incontinence issues following kid # 2.

It was the mention of kegel balls that made me thought you didnt know what you were doing as no professional would recommend them..

good luck, just keep at it. You do them a lot at first, and then less, and then as needed. I was absolutely fine after bub1, mild issues after bub2, apparently it's second pregnancy that does the damage!

I saw a pelvic physio a few years ago who helped immensely with targeted exercises. Although I initially consulted with her from a physio appt with a sore hip/back as my poor pelvic floor was affected with other issues. Amazing support & I had been doing exercises all wrong, so agree with PP that it wont hurt to check & talk through with someone else. Def helped with my stress incontinence affecting my sport/gym exercises too.

TellOutMySoul · 31/03/2018 15:04

Don't you think if men gave birth, we'd have a better solution for incontinence than doing exercises?

saraf78 · 01/04/2018 00:37

Thank you for ur replies! Rumergodden do you not think the kegel balls are a good thing?
I can only find good things about them on the net.

Just an update for anyone searching up this topic.
Downloaded the squeezy app 5 weeks ago and have done the exercises between 3-6 times every day.
First try out last night (LDR) and I can definitely feel a difference during intercourse (yay)
Will continue to persevere with them and hoping things will get better and better as it's still early days yet.
