New to dating and need help

I'm now 18 months single after a 13 year marriage.
I met a man whilst out with friends last night and we got on well.
I want to message him but no idea what to say. Will he think I'm ridiculous? Maybe I totally misread the signals. My self esteem is in the toilet right now and I know I'm overthinking this but I have never dated before and never thought I'd be starting out again in my mid-thirties.
