Getting back in the sexual saddle after hip replacement - need advice

That's it in a nutshell.

I had my operation three weeks ago. Now sleeping better and getting more mobile. I'm off the painkillers.

Would love to resume activities but not sure what I can and can't do. The surgeon was very clear about no horse or bike riding, no golf and no gym but said nothing about the bedroom.

All advice gratefully received.

I think you need to ask a medical professional who is familiar with your case, OP. Did the surgeon give you a contact for who to talk to if you had questions?

The first port of call is the hospital physio but for obvious reasons of embarrassment I'm reluctant to call. Hence me consulting the wised heads and hips of MN.

I actually asked the physio this after my hip op Blush

She told me to stick with the missionary position for a while, being careful not to widen your hips too much. Anything else is off bounds until you heal more completely.

There seemed to me a real lack of information for younger (or relatively younger) paitents. My physio said most of their clients were usually older people and they forget to sometimes adapt their advice for younger patients. I had my hip replacement done when I was 34 so they weren't used dealing with a patient who had young children who might be climbing over them. They were really glad I asked for advice and were happy to talk about it.

Thanks Rusty.

Both my physios at the hospital were male and in their 20s so I didn't have the courage to ask them. I'll try to contact a female and chat through with her.

Otherwise I guess I'll simply take it easy and slow and let nature take it's course.

I'm fairly sure my fil got a leaflet after his op, I was rather nosy interested, Think it said 6-8 weeks. Cant remember if it said anything bout positions but I would have thought spooning would be relatively low risk

Dizzy and Dazzle - 2 or 3 months!!! I'll be climbing the wall by then.

Spooning sounds a good place to start
