I watched that episode last night, I thought he was creepy.

Insincere is how he came across. The way he got up and put his arms round her neck from behind. Just weird!

It was very uncomfortable viewing just watching manipulation at work by a sleazy, slick practised operator with much past experience. I could not believe she was taken in by it all and not repulsed by his advances and lack of boundaries.

Mabel, years ago my firm looked after the PR for a recruitment firm that specialised in IT. As a sort of taster for IT people, they did a “how to date” thing aimed at the Sheldons of the world. The techniques were amazing, a combo of NLP and success coaching, all delivered by a specialist they hired in. It was fascinating, the sort of thing you might read by Tony Clink or Neill Strauss.
And Julian was like a study of those techniques. There was nothing lovely about it, yet there were loads of comments about how heart warming it was. I found it utterly chilling, a study of a contrived and calculated player.
