What do I get a chap for Valentine's day?

I'm in a new relationship and my lovely chap says he's 'planning something for VD'. I've never really bothered with it before so at a loss about what to get him-any ideas please? (Nothing too pricey as buying a house right now, so money is scarce). Thanks.

If it's a really new relationship I'd say something small but thoughtful, like maybe something for his hobby, or a bottle of favourite drink etc

Men can also appreciate the valentine's day cliche gifts: flowers, chocolate, heart shaped baking.

Mellodrama · 30/01/2018 04:43

Following, as I'm in the same boat! Me and ex-DH never celebrated it, and it will be my first one with my new DP Hmm

A few bottles of nice beer, if he drinks beer.

HungerOfThePine · 30/01/2018 14:39

A well thought out book if he is into any specific subject, hobbies etc and likes reading.
I got one for a guy once and I had it spot on , he was over the moon about it.

Was a random gift rather than Valentine's though but basically just make a fuss of him like pp said just like what woman get...

I'm not into Valentine cliche's etcGrin

I've been looking at a heart shaped Cornish pasty.

They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.

(or, as Jo Brand says, through his hanky pocket with a bread knife, but that's a Valentine's day I don't want to see).

Look at not on the high street they have some nice inexpensive token gifts. Love the sound of a heart shaped Cornish pasty!!!

Booze or heart shaped food articles would seem to be good. Some examples:

I bought a friend some a couple of years ago - he said they were brilliant.

I've gone for full on romance and have bought my new boyfriend a book of Irish love poems (he's half Irish, likes poetry and is quietly quite soppy)

Millipedewithherfeetup · 30/01/2018 18:43

I once sent my dh to work with heart shaped sandwiches and heart shaped cookies in his lunch box... lol

SumAndSubstance · 30/01/2018 18:49

If he's planning some VD, I wouldn't get him anything.

Scribblegirl · 30/01/2018 18:50

😏

A card and a home-made heart-shaped cake.

BabySharkDooDoo · 31/01/2018 01:03

I got my DP last year a jar of nice biscuits from an Italian cafe with a shop and a box or truffles. He loved it

notangelinajolie · 31/01/2018 01:10

Grin chap? Sorry made me smile, haven't heard anyone apart from my grandpa call someone a chap.

Does he really call Valentine's Day VD Confused

For a new relationship a card with nice words should do.
