Would you sacrifice the feeling of being wanted for a genuinely decent guy?

8 months into a relationship with one of those guys who isn't your typical gobshite, basically! Genuine, great dad, caring, very kind etc., but...BUT.....

.....EXTREMELY laid back! To the point of coming across as not really excited about me (if that makes sense)?

He goes out of his way to see me when he can, treats my kids, always messages me, never breaks plans...

I have asked him straight about his laid-back attitude but he dismisses it as just that - adamant he's definitely 'into me' but possibly comes across as very nonchalant because of how laid-back he is Sad

So, would you take into account the 90% great qualities he does have and show and therefore sacrifice the feeling of being made to feel important, wanted, loved ...? Or would you walk away to find this elsewhere? Sad

That's not the five love languages. Please google it. I found it enlightening and so did my boyfriend. You have Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time and Physical Touch. It's about understanding how you receive messages of love from your partner and how you convey them. For example my boyfriend and I both had a very low score on receiving gifts but he was high on Words of Affirmation and I was high on Touch. Now I make a point of saying nice things (genuine of course) and he positively purrs. We both really felt the principles made sense. It's another perspective on the two of you and if your partner starts communicating his feelings in a way you hear / notice you might feel less anxious.

You do sound a bit insecure and needy from your posts. Maybe that’s the thing to work on. Do you generally choose gobshites and all they bring? Do you miss the drama they bring?

If you have a great sex life surely he must show you he cares? maybe he's just not all lovely dovey touchy feely some guys just aren't like that. you could find someone who does what you need but they might have other faults you don't like or want. No one is perfect comprise. Good luck whatever you decide X
