Didn't think to post this at the time... But mumsnet helped me to realise my marriage was abusive. Since it was good most of the time it was easy to deny deny deny. But mumsnet planted the seed in my mind that it was truly abusive.

Now I have:
Self respect
My own life
A full brand new shiny set of BOUNDARIES
a feeling of confidence and self assurance
A whole new set of friends
A respectful and loving DP
A suddenly developed wicked sense of humour
A new fashion sense
Totally new life aspirations

Basically, I got my life back, and even better than it was before. So thank you wise women of mumsnet. Smile

Oh and a divorce of course! I was so afraid to have a divorce before, but actually it was brilliant! Grin

That’s lovely to hear op. I think those women that retain a sense of self and onwards and upwards usually come out ok

Thinkingofausername1 · 23/01/2018 16:10

Congratulations Wine

Same! 3 years on and whilst I still have to deal with the ongoing attempts at control/abusive messages in the guise of parenting Hmm my life is immeasurably better.

The joy I get from coming home to my own house is priceless. Lots of messages, advice and real life coffee from a mumsnetter helped more than I can possibly say.
