House v Pension

Just wondering how others have managed?
STBXH wants to keep his pension in lieu of the house. They are of similar value so thats ok.
But he keeps bleating on about not having any equity .
I dont want to see him homeless and am curious how others have managed when one partner effectively looses their home?

Don’t forget that as part of any pension you can choose to get a lump sum st the start which should cover any remaining mortgage they may have, that’s outstanding AND will also provide an income for life.

It’s a toss up between financial gain now or in the future. If you’ve been a sahp then chances are you won’t have this or have the ability to put enough aside for a pension pot for retirement. So, any gain or house you get now will be your pension. Please don’t get sucked into the ‘woe is me, I don’t have any money for a deposit now’ as they have this already tied up in the pension. It’s just not accessible.

My solicitor didn't have a clue about Pensions, though at least she said as much and recommended an IFA firm to handle the CETVs. So as well as telling you to rely on your solicitor, and actually say make a judgement on whether they're giving you good advice!

It's a very individual decision, what suits your personal circumstances best.
