Was this stupid?

I was dating someone I met online for 2 months.

Initially he was super keen then we settled into more of a routine.

Lately he's been pulling back I thought - not wanting to meet, not responding to messages very fast, seeming disinterested really. Sex/kissing dwindled. He spent all weekends away in a different city and it was getting on my nerves. Final straw was seeing he had updated his online dating profiles with new bio, images and I haven't used mine at all. It made me feel shit.

I wanted to meet up at Christmas and he didn't.

I finished it citing I thought we wanted different things and he says he can't commit right now.

I'm hugely regretting it! He just came to drop off my stuff and although I told him to leave it outside my house he insisted on coming in. We talked and then said an awkward goodbye but I realised I still like him a lot.

Did I do the right thing?

You did the right thing. I think him wanting to come in, sounds like messing with your head tbh. Sorry....

RestingButchFace · 20/12/2017 22:38

Yes you did the right thing. He sounds like an absolute knob. Measing you around, sex shouldn't dwindle in the first few months. Weekends away sounds like he has many women on the go. Stay strong and stay away from him.

BeakyPlinder · 20/12/2017 22:41

Yes, you deserve somebody who will make you feel like you're the most exciting and important part of their life. This guy just wasn't that into you as the saying goes. Keep looking, you will find him xx

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 20/12/2017 22:41

Yes, you did the right thing! Dignity intact, dropped him rather than letting him string you along. He may be very nice and all, but he sounds flaky, immature and not-that-into-you. You're now free to find someone else. Enjoy!

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 20/12/2017 22:44

If he was into you he wouldn't update his online dating profile. That by itself is self explanatory. You 100% did the right thing.

biffyboom · 20/12/2017 22:47

Yes you did the right thing. Don't doubt yourself.

userxx · 20/12/2017 23:00

You absolutely did the right, I've been in exactly the same position and it's confusing and hurtful. Don't doubt yourself, you've saved yourself the extra upset by ending it now rather than another few months down the line.

SparklingSnowfall · 20/12/2017 23:07

Absolutely, you did the right thing.

Walkacrossthesand · 21/12/2017 07:18

The 'him' you like a lot is the super keen 'him' you saw at the beginning. That's not who he is, though, that was a front for the unreliable chap who messed you around - that's the real him. I doubt you'd be so smitten if he'd shown that side of himself from the beginning - I hope not, anyway!

You'll become instantly more interesting to a man like him when you make yourself unavailable - it's all about the chase, you see - but don't be fooled. If he can't maintain interest for 2 months, he's not a keeper.

Re-read the beginning of your post!
Of course you did the right thing.
