I desperately need ideas. I'm a really awful present buyer, never know what to get anyone except my own dc. My family tell me what they want so I can't get it wrong!
Been seeing a new guy for 2 months, I know he's getting me a Christmas present as he hinted at it. I want to get him something small but absolutely no idea what as I feel I don't know him well enough yet and anyway like I said I'm hopeless at this!
Our relationship is lots of fun, very physical, lots of laughter and teasing, we also run together. His hobbies as far as I know are running and sci-fi, he's also a foodie and coffee snob and seems to have a very particular taste in music.
I'd be so grateful for ideas for creative and not over the top presents!

Ooh some good things on Etsy, thanks for the tip! Thinking comedy tickets too and I'll make some rocky road for him because he likes it. Personal enough but not overboard right?!

Yes that all sounds just right!

There is a company called The Spicery, which does subscriptions for meal ingredients - you sign up for a month/6 months/1 year and get ingredients sent through the post each month. You can pick Indian/world foods/date night etc.

It’s what I’ve got my foodie partner, along with a nice set of knives!

You don’t have to pay each month either - just one upfront cost (I think it was £40 for 6 months)

If he likes cooking how about a favourite recipe of yours with farm shop-style ingredients in a basket or new pan and the handwritten recipe all wrapped in Christmas cellophane. It looks lovely, shows thought too and doesn’t have to break the bank.

I also find that a toy digger or crane that they get to make on Christmas morning goes down ridiculously well!

I did actually think of something to make on Christmas morning because he's a big kid but Lego is ridiculously expensive!
The only comedy tickets I'd want to buy are for something at end of Feb - that's planning as far ahead as we've been seeing each other so far. Is it too far ahead?

I was in a similar situation a few years ago and I got me and him a falconry experience half day, was really good fun and was something to do together outdoors, had a right laugh!
Depends where you live of course, was something similar to this think it was about £50 for the pair of us, then afterwards had a walk and cosy Sunday dinner in rural pub , think he appreciated that it was a day out together and something different

I’m having this same dilemma Op! I wasn’t going to bother with Christmas presents but my bf of a few months mentioned he’d got me something. I’ve got him tickets to see a band he likes play, but it’s in March and I’m not sure if that seems too keen.

Maybe a random day out doing something? Experience vouchers

Welshmaenad · 05/12/2017 21:32

A monthly coffee subscription?

DVD of the new/old Dr Who Shada episodes?

If he has a quirky sense of humour and likes films, The Grip of Film book by Richard Ayoade?

Latter two have both been bought for my own gorgeous sci fi nerd for Christmas Grin

The Dr Who Shada dvd is a great call Welsh, Douglas Adams is his favourite author!
