Three children in a two-bed house?

We have two small kids and a two bedroom house, and at the moment our two girls share. We have no money to move to a bigger house, and can't move away from London because of our jobs. But we are both desperate for a third child! Has anyone out there had a third child despite it being totally impractical? I'm 33, so time's getting on.

yes, scottishthistle, let's talk about real co-sleeping! My mum was one of 10 in a three-bedroomed house

We lived in a small 2 bed terrace until I was almost 8 and my youngest sister was 4. At that point we slept in a contraption my Dad made which consisted of a double bed (for me and youngest sister) with a single bunk above for the middle sister. Previously we were in bunks and a cot.

And my grandfather's 1901 census report shows there were 26 young men aged 16 - 28 in one house, not related, all just workers.

I didn't even realise there was still a legal definition of overcrowding - and I am currently in the middle of my dissertation on slum conditions in 19th century Richmond.I just looked at a 2 room tenement which contained a couple, their ten children and a lodger!

Anyway - we (DH, me and DS) live in a studio flat - only one room! He's only 6 months old, and we cosleep a lot anyway, but it's getting a bit much, especially as babies have so much STUFF! If we weren't moving to Australia soon we'd have moved before he was born but now it doesn't seem worth it, especially we live in a fantastic location.

As a kid I shared a room with my sister, and loads of my friends shared with two or more sibs - it's ok when you're little but when you get to be a teenager it's tough.
