NOw, stop me if you think I am being a suffocating mum but my DD1 24 showed me a pic and some details about a man she id in contact with on an internet dating site.
he sent a pic of himself (apparently the only one he had to hand??) and it shows him in an armed police officers outfit, complete with semi automatic rifle! And his name on his stab vest thing.
My first thoughts were...are armed police allowed to do that in terms of safety?
He is 26 and jis in training.
Is this a red flag for a fantasist type?
Struck me as odd
I gave her my honest opinion which was that my instinct was saying give it a swerve and she apeared to take it in though cant be guaranteed she won't meet for drinks or so.
I am thinking Apple Tree yard with Emily Watson and Ben Chaplin.
Or am I a cynical old cow?
if anyone can answer the question about whether an armed -police person would send a pic of themselves in full kit, I think my mind would be slightly less cagey about this.
My thanks in advance

My brothers is a police officer & he doesn't have his name on any part of his uniform. His number is on the shoulder of his shirt & stab vest. I also think he would get into trouble for posting public pictures holding weapons.

At worst a complete scammer, at best... a saddo who struts around in uniform with BIG GUNS to show how hard he is.

Another vote for the old Spanish Archer for this one!

lesley and etheral settle it for me. Its off.
Blokes. Just offering her advice and I wanted to make sure what I was offering was within the realms of reality. I am by no means telling her what to do.
This thread is as much to inform myself as anything else. If an offspring...young or old, asks for an opinion, parents are allowed to respond and as in life, I like to be sure what I am saying is based on not just a feeling but something concrete. In the responses I have had, I have received information grounded in personal experiences. Which will do for me.
Off springs safety never stops, no matter what age.

If he actually has the photo on his online profile I would be a bit wary. I have spoken to a police officer through online dating and he wouldn't put a photo of himself on his profile (he messaged me a photo of himself after we got chatting), I also google him to make sure he really was in the police force, I found photos of him stating his role at a local police station.

I have seen quite a few photos of people dressed up in what seems to be police riot gear on online dating sites but they are not actually in the police (dress up).
