Snoring

Feels a little weird as a bloke to initiate a thread on Mumsnet but WTF. It is depressing hearing so many people badly affected by snoring. My wife has been by mine for the past twenty years. We've had separate beds and separate rooms mainly because of this. Anyhow. I finally got one of those plastic devices which you have to imprint with your teeth and wear all night. They feel a little weird at first and then oddly comforting. Bought after reading article in Daily Fail.
Anyhow it works. No more snoring. And is she happy? Err no, mourning the last twenty years, of course! And who can blame her...imagine missing out on 20 years sharing a bed with me (that is a joke by the way)....

Ooh what device is this?

I need to know what this is!!!

Of course she won't be happy that you've needlessly wasted years and caused her disturbed sleep and to be separate from you.

I wasn't either. It took years for my dh to do anything. Then when he finally did go to and ENT, he didn't follow the instructions and got stuck on trying the Snorban (which didn't work) and refused to try the CPAP. It took another 18 months before finally going to a private presentation and then seeing someone privately and getting a sleep study as he wanted surgery. He wasn't suitable and was told to try the CPAP! 1st night...perfect. No more increased risk of stroke and heart attack either which was far more serious than the snoring ever was.

I find nose strips for him and ear plugs for me work

Cricrichan (and others) it was a Tomed SomnoGuard AP which you can pick up for under £100. So I thought I might as well try it out and it just worked. I think it helped that I was fitted by a dentist with a tooth grinder thingy to put in my mouth and as I knew I could cope with that, I reckoned I could use this.
And Joysmum, yes you are right, I absolutely get it. I should have done something much earlier. I didn't because it seemed like such a big thing to shove into my mouth every night and I suppose I felt that it wasn't my fault I snored. My memory is that I wasn't pushed very hard by my wife, but her memory is likely to be different! Also, I guess we have always been fortunate enough to be able to afford two bedrooms, but in retrospect it imposed one hell of a cost on our wallets and the marriage.

Is this an infomercial? Lol

I'll have to find one of these for my DP. She's incredibly loud at times, and grinds her teeth too.

The only product placement is in my mouth, honest!
