Splitting Up

I'm pretty sure my marriage is over and I don't know where to start with sorting anything. We have a 1 year old and I'm unsure about maintenance, custody etc. It's all really sad and overwhelming

First - breathe.
You don't need to do anything immediately.

Would you like to just talk about the emotional side, what's happened, why you're splitting?

Loads of advice available on the practical stuff, but sometimes offloading the end of your family dream is a good start FlowersBrew

I don't love him anymore after 14 years and it's breaking my heart but I can't pretend. He's my best friend but that's it.

This really sucks. This wasn't meant to happen.

14 years is a long time to keep a spark alive. Is there anything you would like to do first to try to resurrect what you had?
(assuming you had it... sometimes people marry knowing deep down it's just comfortable)
It's hard when you have to adjust to having a family.
Do you think counselling or making time as a couple has any place for you?

I'm divorced btw - please don't think I'm saying you shouldn't split! But people who have got the spark back might be able to share their experience, if you're not sure.

If you need to get practical then start thinking about living arrangements.
Are you married?
House mortgaged or do you rent?
Check out HERE for an understand of what you might get in maintenance.
Talk with CAB and understand what benefits you are entitled to.

Does he know you want to split?
How does he feel about it all?

He told me he was unhappy a few weeks ago and I tried for a bit but then I stopped trying and then asked myself why. He wanted to try and make it work but also said he could imagine life without me.

Mortgage and married so more complicated.

Thanks for the replies x
