What do people think about a relationship between siblings of a married couple....so sister of the bride and brother of the groom - I know technically ok as not related but is it still weird or would people be ok with this?

Fine but will be very awkward if they break up.

wobblywonderwoman · 13/08/2017 22:55

I know three incidences.. sisters married brothers. In small towns it happens

DancingLedge · 13/08/2017 22:58

Here in Norfolk that is definitely a thing.

Absolutely fine.

MeanAger · 13/08/2017 23:01

Two of my uncles married two sisters. One relationship broke down but they had emigrated by then so there was no awkwardness for the other sister/brother.

My cousin married my now brother in law and that's how dh and I met. She has always been a bit of a cow so we don't speak really and she hates me even more now lol. They live abroad which helps massively Grin

The TV presenter Sarah Beeney's husband has a sister. That sister is the partner of Sarah's brother.

SandyY2K · 14/08/2017 00:05

Sisters marrying brothers. It's fine as long as they all stay together.

Awkward if anyone breaks up... "Your brother is being a pig to my sister. You need to have a word with him."

Can cause problems for both couples to be honest.

Me and a friend dated twins way back and that was awkward when my twin cheated and we broke up.

ElizaCBennett · 14/08/2017 00:10

My sister and I are married to brothers. It's fine

BenLui · 14/08/2017 00:14

I know two sisters who married two brothers. Both couples have been married about 15 years and everyone is very happy.

The cousins are all very close. Grin

My 2 sisters are married to 2 brothers, it's fine and totally legal

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 14/08/2017 08:06

I know two sisters who are married to a father and son...and the sisters have an aunt and (female) cousin who are married to a pair of brothers.

TheNaze73 · 14/08/2017 08:12

I think it's a bit weird. Each to their own and all that though

Gorgosparta · 14/08/2017 08:21

I dont see the issue.

Its not like they are related. Probably met as adults not like they were brought up as brother and sister.

They are only very vaguely related and by marriage. Not blood.

OnionKnight · 14/08/2017 08:31

In my wife's family one aunt is married to my FIL's brother and my FIL's sister is married to the aunt's brother.

It's fine, just a bit confusing at first.

LellyMcKelly · 14/08/2017 08:47

That's fine, and probably not that unusual, particularly if they become part of your social circle or live in the same area, connect on FB etc. You're not blood relatives so it's no problem.

twattymctwatterson · 14/08/2017 08:57

It's absolutely fine. I don't see why it wouldn't be

hazelnutlatte · 14/08/2017 10:26

My friend and her sister are married to brothers - all fine now but when my friend first got together with her now husband there was a fight and a falling out as his brother couldn't compute that his brother and sister in law getting together was ok!

Aquamarine1029 · 14/08/2017 16:38

It's totally fine. Happens all the time.

AlexaAmbidextra · 14/08/2017 23:48

My gran and her sister married my grandpa and his brother. My mum and I are absolutely normal. Grin

Aquamarine1029 · 15/08/2017 03:17

My grandmother and 2 of her sisters married 3 brothers. All 3 couples were married for over 60 years each. One for 75 years.
