I'd like to ask what you think to this expression- I don't really know it but a guy I've dated a couple of times called me this in a text. I like him and think he likes me.

Bit cringey isn't it? I'd hate it. Nothing wrong with pet names eventually but not this early and that particular one I don't like

flickerty · 23/07/2017 23:18

Ehhhh it's cute enough. He likes you !

JoyceDivision · 23/07/2017 23:18

Sounds like a loved up nickname. Bit icky for me, but then again dh refers to me as "my cross and my joy" Hmm

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 23/07/2017 23:18

Unless he's R Kelly it seems a bit strange. Quite rapper-ish.

PurpleDaisies · 23/07/2017 23:19

I hate it but I'm old and grumpy.

DonkeyOil · 23/07/2017 23:20

It's a term of endearment for a boyfriend/girlfriend. (According to the Urban Dictionary - I'd never heard of it before!)

PurpleDaisies · 23/07/2017 23:20

Sorry, didn't answer your question. I think it's a synonym for girlfriend so he must like you.

This.

MeltorPeltor · 23/07/2017 23:24

That song was 2002! God I feel old.

DoggettandBoo2 · 23/07/2017 23:28

It's sweet. Better than my bird Grin

RaynaJaymes · 23/07/2017 23:30

Haha Meltor I that was my first thought too.

As a term of endearment I've heard worse op

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 24/07/2017 00:48

My boo? How very 2002. Hmm

thereallochnessmonster · 24/07/2017 00:56

My son's 22yo gf calls him this. I go Hmm every time.

Tiffanysfanny · 24/07/2017 01:01

When he calls you boo

Make sure you reply with "hey! Boo boo" it makes me cringe and laugh at the same time. Very American and not British at all. I would give a side eye to any British person who uses it. Very common for Americans though.

SandyY2K · 24/07/2017 02:08

He likes you. Normally an American term as pp have said.

ThinkOfTheHorses · 24/07/2017 03:11

I mean it's nice in intention but a bit cringe/ chav

Angelf1sh · 24/07/2017 05:02

Personally I'd dump him for it 😂😂 but yeah, as pps have said it's his way of saying you're his gf.

Guccibelt · 24/07/2017 06:03

How old are you both? It's a bit daft if you are in your 50s but if you are teenagers then there will be a new word next week.

Comedyboobs · 24/07/2017 06:13

'I love you boo, I love you too'
Black Eyed Peas 'Shut Up' lyric

Are you dating Will i am circa 2003?

LittleBooInABox · 24/07/2017 06:16

Usher and Alicia Keys did a song called my boo. It's reminds me of that

itsbetterthanabox · 24/07/2017 06:25

Better than Bae.

ohamIreally · 24/07/2017 09:25

Ha ha thanks I have been singing that song since I got the text! He is 51 I wondered if it was more of an expression black people use (he is black) it seems to be a nice thing.

OP posts:
ohamIreally · 24/07/2017 09:29

I meant from black American culture I don't want to make it sound like I'm lumping everyone into a heterogeneous mass by the way

BreakWindandFire · 24/07/2017 10:26

Is it a corruption of 'Beau'?
