Do all men minimise?

Just that really. Do they?

I suppose this isn't only about men, women too.

If your DH was telling you something about the past or the present, behaviour he knew you didn't like/agree with (e.g. watching porn, friendships with other women etc) do you think he'd automatically minimise for damage limitation.

It seems as soon as a DH does something wrong, MNetters warn about minimising. How common is it?

Men and women minimise when they KNOW they've done something wrong, it's not exclusive to men.

On MN, you mainly hear from women so you mainly hear about men minimising.

In my experience, yes.

I think it is pretty common among men and women. I have a great relationship with DH, but if I was telling him something I knew he wouldn't want to hear (eg that I'd scraped the car or something like that) I'm sure I'd tell the story in a way that made me seem as blameless as possible!

Its a human thing and we are all guilty of it.

noego · 19/07/2017 18:05

Kids do it too

LesisMiserable · 19/07/2017 18:10

Yes.. all humans, including kids 😏

The only thing men don't minimise on is the size of their penis. . .

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 19/07/2017 18:20

I think it's human nature to placate someone you know is angry with you and to also minimise to convince yourself it isn't as bad, more so than the other person.
