To ask him out or not

Hi I have been single for 2 years. I've lost nearly 20kg in weight and feeling very confident at the moment. I really like a guy who I work with. I would like to ask him out. I find him really personable and friendly. Due to the nature of the work I usually speak to him on the phone frequently but I have seen him a few times in person a few times. I'm talking about a meeting up for a coffee or something. Just to get to know him. However my problem is whether I overstep the professional boundary or not? It would effect me getting paid work if it goes pear shaped? wwyd? Should I take the risk or not?

Not worth it.

On the basis he is single and you are just concentrating on coffee, why not?
Why should it affect you getting paid work in the future?

It's mainly because he generally books me for work and has done consistently for last few years. It's on an adhoc basis. However I always get full time work. I'm not expecting much. If he says no I'd be fine with it. I'm more bothered about missing an opportunity to get to know someone I like

A 'low key' coffee should not be a real issue then. I don't quite understand the working relationship but surely a lunchtime trip to the local coffee bar is not a massive problem.

So he has power over you at work?

If he does then it's not a good idea IMO.
