Im in an interracial marriage, if thats what you mean. I actually got married in the UK and then again in his country. No advice really because everyones different and every marriage is different. If you need to know about the legal side, then Im sure you can find it on the internet home office website, or just give them a call. Why not get married in the UK? My husband and I did, in church, even though he was not a UK resident, just here on a tourist visa. (we met as students, then he went back home to work, and just came back for the wedding, then took me with him)

sorry not interracial (as I don`t know what race you are), but mixed(?) marriage maybe. Oh well, whatever you call them

Be careful, it doesn't always work that way. You would still have to convince the British officials that your marriage is genuine - I do not mean that it is not, but just that immigration officers do have to make an informed decision based upon facts. They would look at how long you have been together and want to see accompanying evidence to back this up.

When friends of ours one british, one new zealander were planning to get married and she was near the end of her visa, she was told that if she got married abroad she would not be allowed back into the country until she had applied for and received her married visa so make sure you're 100% on the rules before you get married over there as he might not be able to return. When my dad married his thai wife, it took them quite a while to get the married visa as there is a hell of a lot of documents that have to go off with it to back it up etc.

yes i know all this i have talked about it with the uk visas and my sol i was told the best way was to marry him over there.after we are married i then have to leave him he is gonna fly out to the british embassy in barbados and hand in the vaf2 form for the visa we have been together and have evdency and all the documents so hopefully it wont be to hard.but its the waiting tho? i was told by the uk visas people that he can get a answer on the spot with the evdence that they require and he has everythink so fingers x it wont take to long.

Can he not get a fiance visa or don't they do those anymore?

Sakura · 10/03/2007 02:08

SOrry, I only know going to another country, not bringing someone to live permanently in the UK. So I only know the rules of his country, but they could be pretty similar. YOu do have to provide things like photos of your life before marriage, and of course your wedding photos. Then he had to provide proof that he could "support" me, I think, so he had to make copies of his tax forms. There were a lot of trips to the city office. I actually came to this country on a tourist visa, and then after arriving, changed the status of my visa. SO I didnt actually have to get it all sorted out before I arrived in the country. Im sure some of this is similar to the UK system.

Sakura · 10/03/2007 02:10

I think you have more problems after your married with the cultural differences to be honest . But then again our arguments could be just because hes a man and Im a woman, rather than cultural differences...
Nah, I love him really.

vvvvvvv · 10/03/2007 13:05

IT IS A LONG procedure as i know?i have to prove i have place for him to live ie letter from my landlord, enough money to support him,six months of bank/s,letter from me,profe that were been together, and a load more withch i have everthing so should work

"I thought you meant a Dominican PRIEST"

Me too Morning Paper! I'm just trying to think of an appropriate literary allusion that isn't Thornbirds or Name of the Rose!

Sorry to distract vvvvvv
