I really like alcohol free beer I have decided. I am having a rubbish weekend as I am stressed about both my kids for various reasons, have a cold and a horrendous period Angry

Rarity75 · 11/03/2017 19:24

Sorry to hear that kiki why are you stressed about your dc's? Nothing worse than feeling rubbish either. Dose yourself up with painkillers and drink plenty of fluids. Flowers

Rarity75 · 11/03/2017 19:25

I've put lime in my beer, makes me think of holidays Smile

Kikikaakaa · 11/03/2017 19:50

Both of them have things going on next eeek and appointments and I have work and it's all aaarffgffhhh stressful!

teenagejennyagutter · 11/03/2017 20:23

Hi folks! I've been having a quiet one. Managed to leave the house today though without getting panicky. Just round the corner to the play park but there were people around and I coped. Managed to stay calm talking to my ex about everything as well.
My boy is at his Dad's tonight so I am tucked up with the cats watching taboo, drinking Canada Dry from the bottle with a big bar of chocolate.
Fretting about facing folk in uni with my black eyes and bruises. I told work I fell down the stairs at my flat but I am worried I will lose it in person. I had a panic attack when the nurse at A and E touched me without warning. And nearly lost it every time I seen a policeman. I'm hoping it will be easier not in a hospital with police around.

SunshineOutdoors · 12/03/2017 07:55

Morning all, I was on the alcohol free beer too last night. Amazed I did a Saturday sober but my real test will be in a couple of days as I don't think I've done more than two sober days in a row in years.

jenny I've just flicked back through the threads and had a little read of your earlier posts. Well done you seem very strong, it's so difficult battling mh problems but I think you've done the hardest bit and you can manage the rest. Jealous of your cat time, too. I love cats but dh is horrifically allergic so can't keep any at home. What are yours like?

HRHCocoa · 12/03/2017 08:04

Morning all.

Thanks to everyone here and enjoy your Sober Sundays. :)

SunshineOutdoors · 12/03/2017 08:19

Sunday is always the day for me I'm not going to drink because I've already drank a lot on Saturday, Friday, Thursday and Wednesday. But then it's the last day of the weekend so I end up using that as an excuse to drink loads. Not today though...

HRHCocoa · 12/03/2017 08:24

Sunshine that describes my thought processes around Sunday perfectly!

What plans for you? I have a deadline for tomorrow and a children's party to go to, so I am about to get on with the day.

SunshineOutdoors · 12/03/2017 08:33

Hi Hrh I think it's helping that I'm not beginning the day with a hangover, the 'hair of the dog' to make me feel a bit better is always a good excuse too. I just started studying part time for an accountancy qualification so I'm going to do some work on that. Also once the kids are in bed I think I will be on the ecigs. I stopped in the day and use nicotine lozenges but am giving myself a break in the evenings. I can't be a saint yet!

Is your deadline work related?

SunshineOutdoors · 12/03/2017 08:37

Oh I saw you all talking craft before too. I have a crochet blanket project on the go so that helps keep me busy

HRHCocoa · 12/03/2017 08:41

Oh hair of the dog.....it used to just trigger all day drinking for me.:(

Accountancy qualifications sound very good also. My deadline is work related..... I am really lucky in that I mainly work from home, but it does mean sometimes I am not that great at standing up for myself when it comes to taking on tasks.....sort of as 'paying back' my office. I need to work on that. I did not do much work on Friday- when I am pressured I procrastinate badly - and overeat. I call it 'procrasti-eating'. Grin

Kikikaakaa · 12/03/2017 09:29

I never drink hair of the dog, I think it's like a self punishment that I feel like I should feel as horrible as possible with a hangover.
I used to drink on a Sunday too as it was still a weekend!
So determined not to drink alone anymore ever again.

Rarity75 · 12/03/2017 09:51

Hi sunshine I'm the one with cats and MH issues! I have three kittens. Two are black and white, and one is all black.

SunshineOutdoors · 12/03/2017 10:34

Ha ha Rarity that introduction made me smile! It's really good to chat to you all as you all know what it's like and don't minimise it. Your cats are gorgeous btw.

I've already baked flapjacks with the kids which I would usually have put off in favour of getting them to lay on the sofa and watch a film with me Sad

SunshineOutdoors · 12/03/2017 10:34

I want to lay on that sofa and have a snuggle with them

SunshineOutdoors · 12/03/2017 10:36

I mean your kittens not my children. Really pleased I'm engaging with them more this morning (she says whilst mumsnetting)

teenagejennyagutter · 12/03/2017 11:36

Snap Rarity Grin

Although mine are getting on a bit now.

Morning all, just checking in for a nosey and reading the latest posts.

68 days dry for me but I had a wobble on Friday evening, it was sunny when I got home from work, Dh had opened the windows and doors, it was warm and perfect conditions for me to open a bottle, I felt 'one would be ok' and stood for a few minutes contemplating.

I didn't have one (we still have wine and champagne in the fridge from Christmas) but the thought of a cold glass of wine was really niggling away at me. Once I'd made a coffee and had a biscuit I was ok but will those urges ever go away?

Rarity75 · 12/03/2017 13:22

Sounds like a lovely day sunshine Well I've played monopoly and buckaroo and am now about to do some cleaning while DD does homework. Didn't sleep well last night think it might be because DP is away with the lads.
Cats are great and yours look beautiful jenny but I can't go to the loo without one of them on my knee! They all slept with me last night to so I had my toes attacked and my face washed at various intervals! Grin
It is good to be able to chat to everybody and get some support.
I think classy that is habit and association that makes us think about alcohol. Because that's what 'normal' drinkers do too. The problem starts when one glass leads to a bottle and then hunting around for the gin. It stops being a pleasurable thing and is destructive instead. To us and to our loved ones. I wish to god I knew which occasions I could drink 'normally' and which are going to turn into massive binges. But I don't, and I don't want to spin the roulette wheel everytime I open a bottle. Because the fall out is massive. I've done things I am rightly ashamed of and it's made me question what kind of person I am. I don't want that anymore.

Right onwards day 5 AF. All new with no mistakes in it (other than not having done the housework yet!)

HRHCocoa · 12/03/2017 13:33

No housework done here either. :)

DH took DS to the party so I could work. I am taking a break from work about every 15 minutes or so to check MN. Sigh. I need to be more efficient.

HRHCocoa · 12/03/2017 13:37

Ohh.... just have to tell someone. DS this morning (aged 7 and autistic) decided to make me breakfast in bed. First time ever.

Cue an Haribo starmix sandwich.

Readers... I forced down every buttery, gummy mouthful.

It was wonderful. :)

Rarity75 · 12/03/2017 13:46

Oh bless cocoa that's lovely! Why are you working on a Sunday? Sad

HRHCocoa · 12/03/2017 13:49

I confess Rarity I faffed my time away on Friday.

Came home to roost. I need to take more care with my time management. :)

[repeats to self... this week will be different...]

Rarity75 · 12/03/2017 13:51

We've all done it Wink
