I have found Match.com details in my husbands email. He swears that it is spam. However, these things say that they are from 'Match Message'. They say that he has a date request. When I read further down, it does say 'free to look, no credit card needed'. BUT there are others that actually have names and email addresses! Another say's, 'Your friend has just joined. Also one that says, 'You have a new message from a match.com member. He still swears that this is just spam. I went on the site and only briefly tapped in some info. I am now receiving stuff saying that someone has winked at me, followers etc which I know is rubbish as I have not done a complete profile. BUT my spam looks completely different to his. I don't understand this 'Match Message'? Does this mean he has subscribed and these messages are real? He has admitted to being on porn sites - and that's a whole OTHER story. He says being on porn sites allows you to be targeted by dating websites? Any advice would be so welcome. Thanks.

I don't have experience of match.com, so hopefully someone will come along with more info, but I think you know your answer.

Going onto porn wouldn't make your Husband automatically subscribe to match.com. In order to have spam emails from match.com you need to have specifically created an account, it won't just happen by chance because you accessed porn.

I receive plenty of spam purporting to be from match.com, but isn't. It's from a fraudster who hopes I'll click on the links/images in the email because he'll get paid for each click by the advertiser (which probably isn't even match.com).

Check the actual email address of the sender, not just the name that appears in the "from" field. If it is from an address that clearly isn't match.com then you'll know: I get four or five a day claiming to be from match.com and they have addresses like [email protected] instead.

It has been happening ever since our talktalk account was hacked last year.

Do forgotten password for the email address it's going to and if you get a password, then you'll know!

I did click on the names/email addresses but it just took me to 'You have won an Ipad'. Although I cannot help but agree with the fact that you would surely need to submit some kind of profile? When I search for 'Match Message' ... I get nothing?

I wouldn't click on the email link, could be spam. Go to match.com and enter email address and then forgotten password. Fingers crossed it doesn't recognise the email address

If you are clicking the link and it's taking you elsewhere then this is just spam. And nothing to worry about xx

If clicking on anything in the mail leads to a screen saying "you have won an iPad" then the email has not come from Match.com. No profile has been submitted to match.com; it's nothing to do with match.com.

Some scamster has got hold of your husband's email address and is bombarding him with emails full of links in the hope that your husband will a) open the email and b) click on the links. The scammer gets paid per click.

Since the talktalk hack last year, when my email address was stolen and sold on to these scammers, I have received anywhere up to 100 emails a day all claiming to be from recognised businesses in the hope that I would open the email.

I did click on forgotten password and he got nothing in his email?

Then I think you can breath easy but change your passwords 😊

I've just cleared out about 5 of the same messages from my inbox.

I've never been on match.
